My Earth Day boycott was great. I didn’t do anything special. I went to work in my car, I grilled hamburgers for the fam, and I walked to the park (for the exercise, not for saving the environment by not using my car). Probably the best thing about boycotting Earth Day was the fact that a political blog referenced me and my post (check out the ballotvox blog about my boycott). Any way to get the word out about God being worshipped and not the earth is okay with me.
So speaking of my enjoyment of eating tasty animals, we are making pizzas tonight for our 40 Days of Community lesson. Of course with a group of Senior High guys all of our ingredients are protein packed. We will be having a pizza with bacon, ham, sausage, pepperoni, and beef and another pizza that has chicken and bbq. Definitely looking forward to making pizza with my guys and then enjoying it as we talk about belonging together in the body of Christ.
In addition to all of my work going on at the church, I’m starting to read the book “Unchristian” by David Kinnaman of the Barna Research Group. I am very intrigued and concerned by postmodern thinking. And although I am not completely on board with the emerging church movement, it is has opened my eyes to postmodern philosophy and how it affects the church. I am hoping that this book will help provide me with insights in how to reach out to a postmodern generation with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
